Friluftstaden2024
August 26, 1944, the new residential area Friluftstaden (the open air city) in Malmö was shown to the public. The creative architect and inventor Eric Sigfrid Persson (1898-1983) had a vision to build a garden city in the middle of the city. 80 years later, it is largely the same vegetation which creates the feeling of being in the middle of nature. In the middle of the city.
For the opening in 1944, among other arts and crafts, new wallpaper patterns were shown. With a homage to this oasis I have designed two new patterns, I call them ”Friluftstaden 2024 - Lyran and SickSack”

A font around your neck
This scarf should perhaps be worn by someone who likes the written word, or even better; fonts. It's fashionable and portable type specimen in various designs and color schemes.

Emma & Ernst
There are two. Similar in shape, one a little more round at the hips but both with the purpose of making one sit classy and comfy.
My sketches became a final pattern after collecting and study what I found close to home. A tree had shed its skin and the rowanberry bush its berries. My interpretation. Letting ink run freely on to a paper. It become very organic and loose. These prototypes was manufactured during an ongoing pandemic. So they will become public a little later in a showroom. I like to express an extra thanks to the local furniture upholsterer here in Malmö, Sonja Carlsson, who helped me give Emma & Ernst a second life. Recycle if possible.

End it
This is a previous made pattern (read about it further down on this page). I see it as a manifestation and reminder to the fight against violence, which is everywhere, visible or hidden.
Now in new color combinations. The blue and yellow gain a double meaning, firstly and mostly for Ukraine and for the unforgivable invasion on their country since February 24, 2022. This is an enormous tragedy.
Stopping the violence is easier said than done. All thoughts goes to everyone out there who tries according to one's ability.

Black-Eyed Susan
Once again inspired by mother nature. I have a botanical favorite, her name is Rudbeckia fulgida 'Goldstrum'. It was time to launch a collection and let her be the lead theme.
The pattern ended up as very abstract. Each one of you who use it, yours imagination and what you see in it so exciting to take part of.
A limited edition was made in the colour Royal Blue. All gone. In addition to this blue there is also some in more bold colour choices. All was made on request. Traditionally scarves are made in 100% silk but I use 30% silk 70% cotton. Tastes differ what one like to wear closest to the skin.

Wettex
I have as an ”commercial artist” a rewarding collaboration with the people at Wettex (Vileda/Freudenberg) in Malmö, Norrköping and Milano. My assignment was in brief; build campaigns and strengthen the brand by create new pattern design and color scheme to the outstanding Swedish invention (who can be found in almost every Swedish household). The challenge lay in the constraints, technically and in terms of big scale production.

Wettex® is a Swedish household sponge cloth. The cloth was invented in 1949 by Curt Lindquist. It can suck up liquids to 15 times its own weight. And how about this; going to space in 1966 with NASA, where it was used as insulation in capsules. Best of all, this cloth is 100% biodegradable. After six weeks in the compost bin, it's gone! The brand name Wettex® is a contraction of the English "wet textile" (wet textile).

Stop the violence
Malmö, August 2019, in peaceful area, in broad daylight, a young woman carrying her child was gunned down and killed in a crossfire. It is cowardly and despicable and above all so extremely senseless ...even Death was crying.
This pattern was made to honor a fellow human being and express my feelings against the meaningless violence on our streets. The pattern ended up on various personal objects, I had no commercial purpose, only my frustration.
